Part 1 of 2 You may be thinking, “What is this sacrilege?!” Especially if you know me well. I have a LOT of Canon speedlites. Like really A LOT. Like 11 or 12 depending on if any are in for repair. I love my speedlites. They’re my homies, my lighting in a bottle. But, you...
Michael,
Your post about the Nissin Di866 MkII and radio poppers was helpful when making my decision to switch from the multitude of 580EX II and 550EX, Today I received 3 Nissin flashes and have discovered I have a bug between the flashes and the radio poppers. I was working with Laurent from Radiopoppers and wanted to know if you have had this problem.
When using a Nissin Di866 mmii (Canon) as the master for Nissin slaves the only way the transmitter will pick up a signal is if the flash is set to a zoom of 24mm. It won’t work if zoom is set to Auto or anything greater than 24mm. I know it’s the transmitter plus because if I use the 580EX II as the master it fires the remotes every time.
Have you had any issue like this? I tried 3 different Nissins as the master and it’s the same on each. Laurent said he has not seen this issue.
Thanks, I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Jeff

Interesting bug, Jeff. I haven’t run across that, but admittedly I have always used a Canon 580EXII as my master flash. I will see if I can replicate the bug here on my end sometime over the next week.
